Where will the Polyglot Gathering take place?

The Polyglot Gathering 2024 will take place at the Prague University of Economics and Business (Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze, VŠE), in Czechia, 400 meters from the main railway station in Prague.

When should I arrive / leave?

1. The Polyglot Gathering dates

The event itself takes five days, from Wednesday 15 May (starting at about 6 pm) to Sunday 19 May (ending late in the evening). You can, of course, only buy a ticket for a part of the event or for just one day, depending on your time possibilities. We recommend attending the whole event as this will give you plenty of time to make friends and learn a lot of new things.

2. A little trip around Czechia?

Prague is the most visited but not the only part of Czechia. What about getting to know some of the mountains, castles, national parks and UNESCO sites?

Thanks to its location in the heart of Europe it is super easy to visit the neighbouring countries.

Czechia has a lot to offer. See if you can find some travel buddies among the participants in the Telegram group!

What will I eat?

There will be a two-hour lunch break every day (1-3 pm), and the lectures usually end at 6 pm, while the evening program starts at 7:30 or 8pm directly at the venue.

We offer lunches and dinners directly at the venue in the university canteen. The meals are prepared specifically for Gathering participants and need to be booked in advance.

All meals have three variants: meaty, vegetarian, vegan. However, you have to opt for one for the whole stay, it is not possible to combine the variants. (A little tip: the vegetarian/vegan queue at the canteen is considerably smaller so there’s almost no waiting time. What about trying out a vegetarian/vegan week for a change?)

You do not have to book meals with us, you can also go to the many nearby shops or restaurants. But most participants usually opt for the venue meals and so it’s a great opportunity for even more networking and language exchanges!

Where will I stay?

This year, every participant takes care of their own accommodation. Prague offers numerous options as for hotels, hostels, Airbnb flats etc. If you’re looking for a roommate, we recommend connecting with other participants in our Telegram group.

How do I get to Prague?

There are plenty of train, bus and flight connections to Prague.

Get to Prague by train

Prague has four main train stations: Praha-Hlavní Nádraží (Prague Main Railway Station), Masarykovo nádraží (Prague Masaryk train station), Praha-Smíchov, and Nádraží Praha-Holešovice. The Polyglot Gathering venue is 400 m from the main railway station. There are direct trains to Prague from e.g. Berlin, Dresden, Munich, Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. Get to Prague by bus

The Florenc bus station is the main bus stop in central Prague running mainly long-distance buses (within the Czech Republic) and international destinations throughout Europe.

Get to Prague by plane

The largest and best-connected airport is located approximately 15 km away from Prague’s city centre: Václav Havel Airport Prague.

From the airport to the center

The connection between Václav Havel Airport Prague and Prague city centre is provided by public transport bus lines which operate at regular few-minute intervals. Bus stops are located directly in front of terminals.

To get to Prague city centre the fastest by public transportation, we recommend taking the trolleybus number 59 (Terminal 1/Terminal 2 – Veleslavín train station) and changing to metro Line A. prg.aero/en/public-transport-buses

It costs 1.5 euros. You can buy a ticket at the bus stop or use PID Lítačka or an app called Citymove, for android or for ios.

Czechia’s telephone prefix is +420. The general emergency number is 112. Tap water is safe to drink all across the country. Power voltage is 230 V, plug outlets are type E as in most European countries.
