By airplane to Bratislava airport (BTS)

Bratislava airport is one of the fastest expanding in Europe, with the number of conveyed passengers almost quadrupling in the past three years. BTS is situated at the eastern edge of Bratislava city, approximately 6 km, or just 15 minutes by public transport. You can use bus 61 to get directly from the airport (called Letisko in Slovak) to the main train station (Hlavná stanica). In order to get to the city center, you can transfer at Trnavské mýto to reach a number of trams and buses. A taxi to the city center costs about 15-25 EUR if you take one of the taxis standing at the airport. By airplane via Vienna airport (VIE)

Vienna airport (VIE) called Wien Schwechat is situated approximately 40 km west of the center of Bratislava. Going from the airport to Bratislava is very simple, comfortable and takes approximately 1 hour. Direct, regular bus connections are provided by three bus operators. They run regular daily service between Vienna city, Vienna airport, Bratislava city and Bratislava airport. In general there are more than 50 departures from Vienna airport to Bratislava per day. Buses depart daily from 6 a.m. on a frequent basis approximately every 30-60 minutes and a single ticket costs about 5-7 EUR. There is also a possibility of taking a boat (called Twin City Liner) from Vienna to Bratislava with prices starting from 20 EUR (single ticket). If you want to take it, you’ll have to first get to Vienna from the Schwechat airport.

Taxis from Vienna airport to Bratislava cost about 100-130 EUR by Austrian taxi companies and about 60-80 EUR by Slovak taxi companies. These prices are rough estimates only.

By train to Bratislava

The central railway station (Hlavná stanica) is located in the northern part of the city, close to the city center. It is the main station for trains, but also the terminal station for many city buses, trams and trolleybuses. The station has a direct international connection with Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Berlin and even other cities and countries around Europe. Note: Every other train from Vienna arrives in the Petržalka train station, not the central station.

By bus to Bratislava

There is a number of direct international connections to Bratislava arriving in the main bus station called “Autobusová stanica Mlynské nivy”. It is situated close to the city center and close to the venue of the Polyglot Gathering (5 minutes by bus).
